Ownership

Ownership can look into what we used to own vs what we own now. In 2026 a lot of media is paid contracts, music, movies, games and even software subscriptions. You used to be able to buy adobe products in one big payment rather than subscriptions.

This can look at how Piracy lets us download and access whatever we want, actually ‘owning’ the media with no worries of a ‘contract’ being removed from a service you pay for.

This could also look at how physical media is making a comeback. Old Piracy included CD/Movie burning, now company's such as Sony are completely going digital with the Playstation. Vinyl and CDs also seem more popular now too, are people fed up of paid services and would rather own their media to enjoy how they like? While this may not tie directly to pirating content it will still highlight service abandnment.

Modern Piracy

This will look at how Piracy began OR the ‘golden age’ of digital piracy (2000s-2010). This could reveal how people pirated media originally like torrenting, where now Piracy can be a site or app what streams from other services without the ‘dodgy download’.

This could be interesting to show if people who ‘how and where’ to go to pirate in 2026. From being in class I know others have pirated which servers get took down and you have to find new ones, where others said they wouldn't know where to go now to pirate media.

This is one of the topics I can get information from interviews and froms, which could also reveal how different age groups go around pirating.
