For this project I want to start with research and find possible examples to help inspire me to think of future based UI’s for a Smart home.
During the week one lecture movie examples were mentioned which I tought of some examples which I want to include here.
Immediately I thought of the movie ‘Kingsman the Secret Service’ which while it is a spy/action movie it has lots of advanced technology in it. The first example I thought of was the ‘Kingsman glasses’ which have a constant UI which can also be used to present holograms of others who are also using the same glasses for meetings.
This is close to becoming real with VR already doing this which this was one of the USPs of the Meta Quest Pro to have meetings. However of course glasses is much more convenient and more natural looking than VR so if it existed it could be way more successful and widely adapted.
Another big example of ‘future technology’ is Star Wars which it uses a lot of holograms. While these holograms do not use UI there is still a possibility of creating something like this as a home assistant or a way to connect with others.
This is also very close to what I said about the Kingsman glasses however these holograms are projected rather than being through glasses.
During the week one lecture a movie example was used which reminded me of another movie ‘Free Guy’ which is similar to my Kingsman example using glasses for ‘AR’ type things. While this is video game based it is still a nice example of future based technology & UI.
