I really enjoyed this module and its two projects which there was lots of topics covered in the lectures I had keen interest in. For example, illustrations and photography.
I found the music app project very fun, which I set myself to create a music player app designed for a specific artist who creates music in a wide genre. I wanted to give myself more of a challenge rather than creating something generic which would probably end up looking like Spotify or Soundcloud. I found the process for the music player app very enjoyable with design and prototyping in Figma. I did find it quite challenging to come up with unique layouts which I think I done quite well creating changing home screens.
Collecting and presenting data was new to me which the second project I found more challenging but even more enjoyable. I really liked this Dashboard project as I got to include one of my interests, photography which is the first time in University I really got to do this. I did experience more trail and error in this project by designing something not liking it then redesigning or changing and adding design choices throughout. Presenting data itself was very interesting to me which is something I have not done before so learning how to create visually appealing data, what presents accurate data was fun. I found the lectures very useful for this project which covered different ways data can be presented and some artists work who creates these data pieces.
As mentioned before I really enjoyed the lecture content as it covered a wide genre of topics which were more open to different types of design and careers. Learning about different types of illustrations was very interesting to me such as hand drawn or graphic design which are both things I am interested in and do in my free time.
One of my main hobbies was also mentioned in a Lecture, photography. It was interesting to see how I can include photographs in UI and went in depth of what photos should be used and what shouldn't. I was really happy to have this covered in a lecture to have a better idea on how and when I can use photography in my designs.
Icons was a big thing in this module which was something I found very interesting to look it. It is something used in everyday with both old and young people across the world so icons are sort of like a universal language. This highlighted to me how important creating icons are to make sure they can be recognized by everyone. This was something I had to take on board when creating icons for my music player as I wanted to add a specific character to them while making sure they are still recognizable. I did find creating icons and some illustrations difficult in Figma so I did use Illustrator to make them more refined.
Overall this Module was very enjoyable for me, all topics covered were interesting and I really enjoyed both projects.
