Module Self Reflection

This module was definitely one of the most educational and relevant so far. Going into the industry is something I think about very often which I am excited for but I am also very nervous and doubt myself quite a lot of ‘if I will be good enough etc. However this semester was defiantly the most tricky to keep up with everything from both the projects and searching for placement searching it was very hard to get time to work on my blogs while having the projects ready for deadlines.

So I felt this module really helped me re assure myself even with ‘tips and tricks’ for example one of them what I have used was to turn nerves into excitement. I tried to get this in my head for my first online interview which I actually think I done very well. I defiantly felt a lot more confident than scared for this interview.

Designing a portfolio and CVs are something I have completed in past education, however not at this level. My past portfolio was just for some photography topics with no written content so this was largely different. I had also created various CVs in the past which this module greatly help me know ‘dos’ and ‘dont’s’ when creating a CV. For example I would usually include a photo of my face which during the lectures it was said never to do this and it is more of a American thing.

This module was more than learning just design, it was things to apply in the real word which I am very appreciative on all the insights I got during this module

An Aspect of Professional Practice I Found Interesting

One of the key aspects of this module which I found interesting was actually the ‘soft skills’ such as tips for placements or for pitching.

Getting a insight on job Interviews was partially interesting to me as this is something I had not done for a Design related application and will be something currently happening/ up and coming with placements. These are things I have already applied and I do think these tips have helped me greatly, from knowing how to answer unexpected questions to think of something quickly to controlling nerves and turning them into excitement.

These are the lectures I enjoyed the most as the topics covered are extremely useful and relevant to me and something I needed to know before placement interviews to better my chances of success.
