Now that I have my CV complete I now have to work on my portfolio which in class it was mentioned to only include three to four (being a ‘extra’) projects in it.
Before going right into designing my portfolio I wanted to familiar myself with how a strong professional CV should look. On Black Board there is a link to view good designer portfolios by Shubham Sah which includes google UX, Apple UX and Meta UX portfolios.
Just by quickly looking at the Google UX portfolios it is quick to tell that portfolios are minimalist, which one one of four used colours to highlight text and their logo. This is good as I already have a simple black and white version of my personal branding which I used on my CV.
However the next bunch of portfolios labelled as ‘Portfolios will make you think’ which they are very unique and break the norm. For example using bright neon colours, 3D elements, unique loading and scrolling.

This is one of these examples which it uses bright neon contrasting colours. I think this type of design really goes by your style which I will not do anything crazy like this, I would stick with being minimalistic and industry professional. The aesthetic of this portfolio is very cool but isn't my type of thing personally.
Looking at the Meta UX portfolios it is back to mostly black and white with sometimes one colour to highlight areas. This is defiantly what I want to do as I feel like the ‘make you think’ ones are too risky and tricky to get right. Again looking at these portfolios I do find having the ‘box’ buttons the most easy to navigate and understand to show your work with. For example I think this is a great unique portfolio website but there is a lot of content and buttons which may make it hard for the user to find what they are looking for. https://niteeshyadav.com
I really like Jiacheng Yangs portfolio which uses inverted colours (white text on black background) but what I love even more about this portfolio is the home page content layout using large images then when hovered the title and some information displays. When clicked the design page is very advanced with moving segments and unique scrolling which I love.
