In this weeks Lecture we looked at the future of design and looking at bringing in a third dimension. In this class I watched lots of videos of designers ideas which the videos were very well made which these videos really brought these ideas to life and really got designers ideas across.
Some designs shown today were for example ‘life style’ which there was a design of how to add ‘technology’ to fashion such as swiping on a sleeve to use your phone. Where as some designs were made to help solve problems such as medical conditions, treatment rooms etc. I liked the idea of the virtual surgery which everything can be monitored on a large screen which specialists can connect with each other from a distance to look at patients.
Another idea I liked was to have freedom of customizing the inside of your car, I really liked the idea of using a UI to change the tint of the windows as tinted windows would be more useful during summer but too dark during winter.
We also looked at how UI design is shown in movies, particularly sci fi or futuristic movies and games. Thinking about UI in movies I thought about ‘The Kingsman’ movies which they have glasses which they can show other agents also wearing the glasses as holograms similar to mixed reality. The glasses can also help with combat, directions and video conferencing. I like the idea of having regular looking glasses, not bulky or obviously ‘smart glasses’ such as what we have today which having glasses similar to this can help people attend meetings etc from a distance.
During this lecture I looked at ‘the future of technology UI’ which by doing this has already got me thinking of possible ideas for my final year projects. During the lecture I found out that you can build your design in VR, which is something I may do as I have the equipment for this at home and I really enjoy using virtual reality. I also found out that for my upcoming projects that I can ‘push the boundaries’ and come up with ideas for the future, not just something what could be created today. All this knowledge was very useful to me as I want to start planning ideas so I have a idea on what I want to create in the future.
