This weeks lecture was very interesting to me which it sort of brought me back to my animation class.

Why storytelling?

Telling a story helps how we understand the world, design is not just problem solving it is meaning making. Showing a story is a really powerful tool to show a idea and tell others what impact it has in a real life scenario.

Storytelling in design can be a narrative structure which has a beginning, middle and end. Story's in design should focus on:

It is also important to think of the mindset of the audience/stakeholders. It is important to think who I am presenting to, what do they know, their needs. It is also important to consider what they are skelptical of, or what can make them lean for it.

What makes a good story?

The structure of Freytags Pyramid classic dramatic ark which includes the introduction of the story, rise, climax (the peak), return or fall and resolution.

This is something I have looked at before in past studies which I found the examples good for a nice refresh and some perspective of movie examples.

In the lecture something I wanted to highlight was how ‘it would be nice for my story to stick with someone who could share it with others’. In other words making a memorable experience what will stick with the stakeholders which they could bring it up to
