This lecture introduced me to new software's to experiment with to create my micro interactions animations. This lecture was really useful to help me learn and know to use the right tool for the best job. My lecturer said it is good to get good at other tools and appropriate other tools, which is something I know first hand with the different software's I have learned in the past from code, to animation and graphic designing. However there are still many tools I need to learn as I know mostly Adobe Software and tools as well as Figma.
This is actually very exiting to me as learning more software’s is something I enjoy and I am always happy to expand on my software knowledge.
During the lecture AI was also mentioned which I was surprised to find out AI released roughly six years ago, which it doesn't feel that long since it was introduced to me. This release was maybe before it was ‘mainstream’ as I remember my friend introducing me to Chat GPT in college which I did not use it for long after until research such as user personas etc really mattered. My lecturer mentioned how AI is interesting and should not be scary as there are still jobs for humans and AI only matters depending how we fit AI tools into our process.
A big part of this lecture covered ‘prototypes’ which a big thing was explained that prototypes is a good way to eliminate risks such as cutting lots of time on developing. I know this very well from my last SDG which I made low fi mock ups of different versions then when I was happy I expanded on it to make a fully completed prototype.
During class there was plenty of new software's mentioned which one of the most interesting to me was ‘Marvel’ which allows the user to take photos of their sketched wire frames which then makes it interactive for the user. This is something I want to test just to experiment with I might use one of my old sketches to experiment with this.
Protopie was another new software which I downloaded in class. This software seems to have more options for making components interactive, however I am not sure what the learning curve is like for this. However I do plan to use it for my project to try and familiarize myself
At the end of the lecture there was a Figma and ProtoPie tutorial. The Figma tutorial was very easy to follow as I was already familiar Figma. I also had a Micro Interaction component which worked similarly to what the tutorial example was, but I still found it very useful.
