This weeks lecture covered interview skills which I thought this was one of the most useful lectures yet.

This was all very beneficial to me from tips in a interview on how to present yourself to how to best answer questions. For example one of the tips mentioned was that everyone would feel nervous for the interview, you want to tell yourself this is positive excitement if it is nerves from being scared you will loose your words etc in the interview.

In class there was also a very useful task where I got to experience both the interviewer (asking questions and taking notes) and the person getting interviewed (having to answer the questions).

I really enjoyed this task both being the interviewer and the employee. Being the employer first I made sure I read questions loud and clear using strong eye contact to try and make it as professional as possible. At first I did struggle to write notes which I was doing after the employee spoke but I then found myself writing while he was talking, which I turned long sentences into key bullet points for the different genres.

As the Employee I think I done very well, I was able to instantly give answers which there was only one real ‘fault’ which I said to ‘let me reword that’. One of my best answers which was acknowledged well by the ‘interviewer’ was ‘what is one of my favourite projects’. I answered saying it would probably be my most recent, the smartwatch app which I explained how it was a bit of a challenge for me as I had never owned one. So I described my process on how I started with a competitor analysis for me to understand how smartwatch UIs look, such as text size and how information is displayed. I also explained my ideas and what changed etc through my process (what worked and what didn't).

I really went in depth with this one which later in the lecture it was mentioned how people said ‘this is my favourite project because it was ‘fun’. Where I described mine as one of my favourites as it was a challenge for me.
