This weeks lecture was about trends, specifically in the UX industry. The definition of a trend which I want to note down is ‘a general direction in which something is developing or changing.’
During the lecture the class took part in a posted note task, which each person had to note down whatever UX trends they could think off, which they were all put on the board into groups. This was a very good way to see what is actually trending among the class. I noted down AI (which would be the most obvious), VR/AR which is something constantly changing and becoming more accessible and motion and voice control.

On the board there was 13 AI, 6 VR and 3 Voice/Motion. From just looking at the board AI is the clear winner.
Accessibility was another big one however I see accessibility as a requirement rather than a ‘trend’. From the call by Big Motive, it was described that around 98% of sites are non accessible, which this should of course be fixed but rather as a requirement.
All this was to get a head start on my new project which was handed out to create a report on UX trends. For this project I should think of three different trends to write about which it was also mentioned to use the Harvard Referencing Style which is something I am familiar with.
During the lecture my lecturer then provided some sources which I began to use in class to get a better understanding of these trends and to begin looking into them. This was for me to have a better understanding before the lecture ended which I was able to discuss my ideas and concerns with my lecturer after.
Below are some quick notes I took from my research:
