This was the halfway point critique for my SDG project. I was not entirely happy with where I was at for this project as I have been through so many design ideas and layouts, which each week I am getting new ideas and recommendations for layouts and device types.
From Miro the feedback I got was just about mistakes on the map I created, which was valid but I didn't get much constructive feedback for my actual idea. I did get feedback saying to cut back on the images as it is taking away from the content too. However last weeks 1:1 with my lecturer we looked at examples such as the national geographic and I was recommended to use big imagery etc to help balance content.
The main constructive feedback came from my lecturer which firstly I was told to change ‘quiz’ to a learning story. This is to tailor it more to the audience as ‘quiz’ reads quite boring where ‘story’ would be a more exiting term for a child audience.
I was also told I could turn the original slide show quiz into a VR story. I thought this would be quite a lot of work but my lecturer said I do not actually need to make it in VR but just show how it would look and function in a Figma prototype. I actually really like this idea as a VR user myself, my only concern is how I would make it convincing that it is a VR prototype in Figma.
For example instead of a map it could say ‘lets go on a journey’ or being more precise to the story I already have it could say ‘lets go to Africa.’
I found this feedback extremely useful but this is another redesign for me so this week I want to make a good start to show my lecturer next week to see if my VR design looks convincing as a prototype. I am just worried as I keep doing redesigns and not getting much time to add more pages but I will have more time this week to get through this project as last week I was away for a few days.
This week I also got a more in depth talk about my new assignment brief for the UX audit. Last week it was mentioned how it may or may not be optional for what I can do the UX audit on, however this week it was confirmed that it would only have 3 options which was the Ulster University portal, NI Direct and Translink. My lecturer said that Translinks website was redesigned so it would be interesting to see if it is as bad as it was before.
