Today was the day of my Project 2, design history presentation. I am always very nervous about doing presentations and public talking. I was very confident with all my own work and presentation as well as the team mates work in my group who presented that day.
To start with we had a group meeting which I suggested how to do the presentation, to stand in order of who's talking and that we would pass the remote along to change our own slides. I thought this was a good idea as if one person was to control the remote to change slides they may go too fast or slow and if someone asks ‘change the slide’ it looks very unprofessional.
Once I got up to start our presentation I got very nervous and felt a bit shaky. This is something I defiantly need to work on before employers come in as my ‘public speaking’ confidence is low but I know my work, efforts and communication with others are great.
While presenting I would have liked to try and reference back to my images more after speaking about my main notes but as I knew my speech was over two minutes I tried to be as quick as possible without talking quickly.
Overall I am very happy with my presentation, research, communication, layout, designs, feedback both given and received. I spent a lot of time staying after classes to have group meetings to ensure everyone was ‘on track’ and happy with what they are doing and to give feedback when asked as well as constantly communicating on Instagram and Slack. Everyone in my groups presentations was great today and I am super happy with everyone's research on the topics I planned at the start of this project. Something I don't like doing is telling people ‘what to do’, but my group wanted me to come up with the topics and assign them so it was good to have some sort of a ‘leader’ experience but I always checked with my team to see if everyone was happy with their topic, or if it was too difficult as I would feel responsible for this and would try to resolve any issues or help with research topics to cover.
